What would a La Salle-Bishop Amat game be without some late-inning drama?
In a battle of the ‘Lancers,’ a walk-off home run would give Bishop Amat a 3-2, Del Rey League opening victory over visiting La Salle.
With the scored tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Frankie Peralez ended the game with one swing.
Val Gomez was stuck with the loss.
Gomez went the entire way for La Salle, allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
He walked one and struck out two.
Sean Suriyaniel and Jonathan Rodriguez both singled and scored in the win.
Suriyaniel also went the distance on the mound to get the win.
He scattered seven hits, walked one and fanned eight La Salle batters.
David Mysza had three of the Lancers’ seven hits.
Mysza singled, doubled and tripled, and he scored in the top of the first inning on a Will Clougherty single.
Jacob Escamilla had an RBI triple for the Lancers.
AJ Beltre singled and scored.
Evan Nahra walked and singled.
Suriyaniel got seven of the nine La Salle batters on strikes at least once.
That list did not include Mysza or Clougherty.
Up next: La Salle will host Cathedral on Tuesday afternoon.
