Boys Volleyball:

So far, so good.

The Stephen Bernabe era is off to a 2-0 start.

Bernabe, who coaches the Arcadia girls team, took over the boys program this year.

And after a season-opening victory at South Pasadena this week, the Apaches got win No. 2.

Arcadia defeated Temple City by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 21-25 and 25-16.

Jesse Lok led the way again with 11 kills and two blocks.

Kevin Nakaishi contributed 21 digs and Kyle Soriano finished with six kills and a pair of aces.

Quotable:

Arcadia coach, Stephen Bernabe: “I told my team that we got a win, but we needed to keep the bar high for ourselves. Temple City took advantage during the third set and really humbled our team. They played scrappy, swung aggressively, and showed that without a ton of height, they can play volleyball. We learned to be humble and that we need to work smarter now. Happy to start the season 2-0.”

Up next: The Apaches will host Maranatha on Friday afternoon.

Records: Temple City (0-3); Arcadia (2-0)
