Boys Athlete of the Week:

Max Blessinger is back in So Cal to restart his baseball career, and what a first few weeks it has been.

Blessinger, who played a major role in Maranatha going 27-4 and winning a CIF-SS Division 3 championship in June of 2018, went to Dallas Baptist after graduating from MHS.

While things didn’t necessarily goes as planned, Blessinger is back to his old tricks.

The Lancers’ center fielder and leadoff batter has sparked the PCC offense.

On Tuesday, Blessinger went 1-for-2 with a single, sac fly (RBI) and scored a run in PCC’s 8-3 victory over Mt. San Jacinto.

Two days later, he walked, hit a three-run home run, a two-run double and scored a pair of runs in the Lancers’ 16-2 beatdown over West Los Angeles.

And on Saturday, Blessinger had a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull PCC even with Merced, and the Lancers would go on to an 8-4 victory.

PCC is on a four-game win streak and Blessinger is batting .372, with 16 hits, 18 runs scored and 11 RBIs.

His 18 runs leads PCC, while Max is second to Raider Tello in average (.432), hits (18) and RBIs (14).

Up next: PCC and conference rival, Mt. SAC, face off three times this week.

PCC (8-3) vs Mt. SAC (8-3) Schedule:
Tues: PCC at Mt. SAC
Thurs: Mt. SAC at PCC
Sat: PCC at Mt. Sac
