Girls Water Polo:

It’s on to the D-3 title game!

Bonita made a 54-mile trip to Rolling Hills Estates in Wednesday’s semifinal round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.

And the traffic and drive home didn’t bother the girls from La Verne one bit, after a 9-6 victory over Peninsula.

The Bearcats scored three goals apiece in each of the first three quarters and let their goalie, Maddie Jackson, do the rest.

Jackson had 13 blocks and held Peninsula to half of its average scoring output.

Hailee Heaton and Tori Carlson played huge in Bonita’s victory.

Heaton had a game-high five goals and Carlson contributed three goals.

Katie Hugar scored once for the Bearcats.

Reiley Leongkaye and Cedar Rose Leach scored three goals apiece to account for the Peninsula offense.

Up next: Bonita will face off with Woodbridge in Saturday’s CIF-SS Division 3 championship
against Woodbridge.

The time hasn’t been set, but the game will be played at the William Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine.

The Warriors (19-4) edged Beckman, 8-7, in their semifinal-round contest.
