Mt. SAC avoided losing its third consecutive game on Tuesday night.
The Mounties trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mt. SAC, however, got two runs in the bottom of the sixth, one more in the seventh and opened the flood gates with seven eighth-inning runs to defeat visiting LA Pierce, 10-2.
Jeff Isenhart went the first 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits.
Isenhart walked three and got 11 of his 14 outs via strikeout.
But the former Glendora right-hander didn’t get a single run of support.
Hunter Holmes, Damian Torres and Cristian Enriquez combined to go the final 4 1/3 innings of hitless and scoreless relief.
The Mounties pitching staff walked six and struck out 18 LA Pierce batters.
Furthermore, Mt. SAC struck out all 10 LA Pierce batters that had at least one official at-bat, including Esteban Perez four times.
Robbie Treto had two of the Brahmas’ three hits, including a double and a fifth-inning RBI triple that gave LA Pierce a 2-0 lead.
Colin Mitchell had a great outing on the mound for the Brahmas, going five scoreless, allowing four hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out nine Mounties batters.
But Mt. SAC got to Nick Alfaro for 10 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits over his three innings of work.
Brent Cota got the Mounties even when he hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Christian Eriquez singled, doubled, scored twice and had an RBI.
CJ Ontiveros scored and had a two-run single in the eighth inning.
Blake Borgogno walked, singled twice and scored, and Jose Marquez collected two hits in four at-bats.
Nin Burns had a two-run single in the eighth and finished with three RBIs.
Robbie Mansour and Elijah Pelayo both singled, scored and had one RBI apiece.
Up next: MSAC will host Cypress on Thursday.
