Girls Basketball:
Glendora and Covina traded momentum throughout much of Saturday’s first round of the CIF-SS Division 2AA playoffs.
The Colts scored the game’s first five points before GHS would close the quarter on a 14-0 run.
Covina would outscore Glendora 30-22 in the second and third quarters combined, but the Tartan finished the game on a 14-9 run.
In the end, it was GHS that claimed a 50-44 victory.
Rylie Anderson led the way with 20 points and Kennedy Herrmann chipped in with 11 points.
Leilani Argueta led Covina with 16 points.
Miranda Morales finished with 14 points for the Colts.
Brianna Gomez scored nine points in the win and Hailey Schaffer had seven.
Up next: GHS will travel to Crean Lutheran on Wednesday.
The Saints (20-3) had a first-round bye.
