It doesn’t matter the sport, the saying “defense wins championships,” will always ring true.
And no position in the pool is more vital to a deep CIF-SS playoff run than a program’s goalie.
Bonita senior Maddie Jackson is saving her best for last.
After wrapping up a Palomares League championship, the Bearcats have won their first two CIF-SS Division 3 playoff games.
On Thursday, Jackson had 15 blocks in a 17-9 victory over Arlington.
Two days later, the Bonita goalie had 19 saves in their 6-4 victory over Vista Murrieta.
Jackson held both Arlington and Vista Murrieta to nine goals under their scoring average.
Up next: The Bearcats head to Rolling Hills Estates to battle Peninsula in the semifinal round.
The Panthers edge California, 12-10, on Saturday.
