Who says entering the playoffs on a two-game losing streak is a bad thing?
Not the Marshall Fundamental boys basketball program.
After dropping consecutive Mission Valley League games to South El Monte and Mountain View, the Eagles opened the CIF-SS Division 5AA playoffs at home against Bassett.
Marshall used an eight-point, fourth-quarter advantage to claim a 61-51 victory.
Armen Darakchyan had a game-high 27 points for Marshall.
Darakchyan scored 12 of the Eagles 20 first-quarter points.
And he went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Alonzo Acosta chipped in with 13 points in the win.
Jackson Stadnicki contributed nine points and Bagdo Yetenekyan had seven.
For Bassett, Alexis Valle had a team-high 21 points.
Up next: The Eagles will travel to Rosemead to take on Bosco Tech on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (16-11) claimed an 80-74 road victory at Cobalt Institute in their first-round game.
