Girls Athlete of the Week:
Over the past four years, Esperanza Dorantes has been one of the best and most successful athletes that has walked the halls at San Dimas High School.
She’s been a star and a leader on the Lady Saints wrestling team.
And on Saturday, Dorantes made history at the Valle Vista League finals.
Dorantes became the first four-time VVL champ in school history.
This is how her coach describes her:
“Espi has been the prime example of a San Dimas Lady Saint wrestler. She’s hungry and determined for success, but always humble in victory or defeat. She’s a four-year letterman, regional champion and the first San Dimas Lady Saint wrestler to become a four-time Valle Vista League Champion,” Jesse Jaime said.
Dorantes was one of five Saints’ champions, and that list includes Cameron Ortiz (131 pounds), Juliana Marquez (160), Jenae Acero (170) and Charlene Smith (235).
The top three placers at each weight class from the VVL have qualified for this week’s CIF-SS Individuals.
