Mt. Sac Out-Hits College of the Desert, 14-8, on Saturday; Mounties Improve to 5-0 After 13-6 Victory

College Baseball:

Mt. SAC won its fifth consecutive game, and their third in the last three days.

The Mounties scored 10 runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 13-6 victory over College of the Desert.

Over a 72-hour period, MSAC defeated San Bernardino Valley, Ohlone and COD at the David Buttles Memorial Tournament.

And they did so by a combined score of 31-10.

But back to Saturday’s victory over COD.

Kyle Maier went the first two innings for the Mounties and allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit.

He walked one and struck out three.

Hunter Holmes was credited with the win, going 1 2/3 innings and surrendering one run on three hits.

Holmes walked three and struck out a pair of COD batters.

COD got three runs off Steven Vazquez on two hits and three walks.

Vazquez struck out six in his 2 1/3 innings.

Damien’s Alec Beck provided two scoreless innings of relief and struck out two.

Anthony Corrales retired the side in the ninth inning to secure the win.

William Owens walked twice, had a pair of singles and scored two runs.

Dillon Baker walked, singled, scored and had an RBI ground out.

Joseph Jimenez had an RBI triple.

Kenneth Schechter got the loss after allowing nine runs (five earned) on seven hits.

He walked two and struck out five.

Art Ruiz had two doubles, scored three runs and had one RBI in the win.

Will Bermudez singled twice and had a pair of RBIs.

Cristian Enriquez walked, singled, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Nin Burns went 2-for-5, with two singles and an RBI.

CJ Ontiveros walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.

Travis Hobbensiefken walked twice, singled and scored two runs.

Elijah Pelayo tripled, scored and had one RBI.

Up next: The Mounties host Fullerton on Tuesday.

The first pitch is slated for 2.
