Boys Basketball:
With two games to play in the regular season (for GHS), Ayala now holds a 1 1/2-game lead over Glendora for second place in the Palomares League.
The Bulldogs erased a six-point deficit in the last minute and edged the visiting Tartans, 61-60, on Tuesday night.
If GHS sweeps fifth-place Claremont on Thursday and Friday, and first-place Colony defeats Ayala on Thursday, the Bulldogs and Tartans would end up tied for second place.
Both programs won their home game against the other.
GHS missed a pair of free throws late that would have given them the lead.
Jermaine Rogers had a big night for Ayala, scoring a game-high 26 points.
Zack Murphy added 21 points to the Bulldogs total.
Noah Smith led Glendora with 19 points, four rebounds and five assists.
Braydon Wooldridge contributed 13 points, two rebounds and an assist.
And Luke Jacobson had 12 points, 16 rebounds and three assists.
Up next: GHS will host Claremont on Thursday and one day later, the Tartans travel to CHS for the second of two games this week.
Ayala will host first-place Colony on Thursday in their regular-season finale.
