Boys Basketball
San Dimas picked up a vital 58-50 Valle Vista League victory at Covina.
The Friday win allowed the Saints to remain in a first-place tie with Charter Oak.
The Chargers and Saints each have three VVL games left to play, and they meet up on Tuesday night at SDHS.
But let’s get back to Friday.
San Dimas took a 13-point lead into the half, and hung on in a second half that saw the Colts outscore the Saints, 36-31.
DJ Williams led the SDHS offense with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Zaye Salgado chipped in with 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Malachi Otero finished with 10 points, a team-high seven rebounds and four assists.
Covina got a team-best 12 points from Kerry Smith.
Emmanuel Burnett had 10 points, and Alain Salmeron contributed eight points for the Colts.
Ronnie Munoz and Eduardo Sierra scored six points each in the loss.
Up next: Covina will host Charter Oak tonight (Saturday) at 6:30, and San Dimas will welcome Diamond Ranch to their gym on Monday.
