Girls Basketball:
For this first time since January 8th of 2016, the Flintridge Prep girls basketball team lost a Prep League game.
Providence, which scored 34 total points in the first three quarters combined, went on a 26-13, fourth-quarter run to defeat the Wolves, 60-54, on Thursday night.
Audrey Sayoc had a game-high 40 points for the Pioneers.
The Wolves would never make excuses, but COVID-19 and injuries have hampered the program all season, and it’s not an unusual to see just five or six players dressed.
Ashley Chea, who is the heart and soul of the Wolves offense, continued her excellence with 31 points.
Maddi Huie chipped in with 11,points and Kassidy Huie scored seven in the loss.
Up next: The Wolves get a shot to avenge Thurday’s setback when they host Providence on Saturday night.
With three league games to go for Prep, and four for Providence, the Wolves and Pioneers are tied for first with one league loss apiece.
Quotable:
Flintridge Prep co-head coach, Jayme Chan: “We have been fortunate enough to sustain our winning streak with the legacy that our previous teams have built and passed down each year. It demonstrates the heart and dedication that our teams consistently possess. We are so proud of what we have been able to accomplish thus far, but are excited to create another identity for ourselves moving forward.
Up next: The Wolves get a shot at payback when they host Providence on Saturday night.”
