College Baseball:
Mt. SAC opened its 2022 baseball season with a 12-3 victory over visiting Victor Valley.
Four Mounties pitchers combined to allow two earned runs on six hits, walking five and striking out 11.
Michael Flores got the win after going four innings and allowing two runs on four hits.
He walked two and struck out a pair of VVC batters.
Steven Vazquez went 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit, didn’t walk anyone and struck out two.
Former Glendora two-sport star, Jeff Isenhart, provided three innings of relief, allowing an unearned run on one hit.
Isenhart walked two and fanned four.
Trent Merrill secured the victory with a scoreless and hitless ninth inning.
Merrill walked one and got all three of his outs via strikeout.
Hunter Santos singled doubled and scored twice for Victor Valley.
Sebastian Navarro walked twice, and had one RBI and run scored.
Eric Vaccaro drove in a run on a sac fly.
MSAC got three runs or more off Victor Valley’s first three pitchers.
Evan Walling was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs (two earned) on three hits.
He walked two and struck out a pair of Mt. SAC batters.
Will Bermudez walked, singled, scored and had an RBI.
Nin Burns singled, doubled, scored three runs and drove in one.
Brent Cota went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, two runs scored and a game-high four RBIs.
CJ Ontiveros walked twice, doubled, had a sac fly, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Blake Borgogno walked, singled and scored twice.
Elijah Pelayo walked, scored two runs and had an RBI.
Up next: The Mounties will host San Bernardino Valley College on Saturday.
