Wrestling:
There’s a famous professional wrestler that said, “to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man.”
“The man” in Palomares League wrestling remains Alta Loma for the fourth consecutive year.
Trailing 25-10 in Tuesday night’s winner-take-all scenario at Bonita, the Braves won the final six matches to claim a 45-25 victory.
Five of the six came via pin fall.
For Bonita: Chris Casanave started the contest on a high note with a pin at 106 pounds.
Tristan Fernandez earned a 9-1 victory at 132 and Owen Arbogast followed with a pin at 138.
At 145 pounds, Chris Ramirez won his match, 11-2, and Cole Parra picked up a tech fall (17-2) at 152 to give Bonita that 25-10 lead.
For Alta Loma, Charles Wallis got the first points of the night at 113-pounds, with his 8-7 victory.
Jacob Stearns (120) and Sean Casey (160) both claimed wins by decision.
Zain Khan (126), Eli Green (170), Eric Race (182), Angel Macias (195), Ian Sullins (220) and heavyweight Robert Gutierrez all earned six team points apiece for the Braves with pin-fall victories.
Up next: Alta Loma will find out their first round opponent in Saturday’s CIF-SS team duals today, and Bonita will wait to see if they were granted an at-large bid.
