Boys Basketball:
The Palomares League’s top program (Colony) met up with their counterpart from the Baseline League (Etiwanda) Saturday night in the State Preview Classic at Colony High School.
Trailing by one point, a Colony lay-up attempt with 1.7 seconds remaining rimmed out and Etiwanda got both the rebound and a 53-52 victory.
The Titans led 23-13 in the second quarter, but the Eagles closed out the half on a 19-5 run and took a 31-27 lead into the break.
Jimmy Baker led Etiwanda with 12 points.
Jacob Barcelo contributed 11 points, and Quinton Webb had 10 points in the win.
Colony’s Jaden Henley led all scorers with 19 points on Saturday.
Denzel Hines chipped in with 12 points and Kollen Murphy added 10 points for the Titans.
Up next: Colony travels to Glendora on Wednesday and Etiwanda goes to Los Osos on Tuesday.
