Centennial Corona, Ranked No. 1 in State, Defeats No. 3 Crean Lutheran, 72-57, at State Preview Classic on Saturday Night

What a season it has been for Centennial Corona.

The Huskies, who are ranked No. 1 in the CIF-SS Division 1 poll, and are the top-ranked program in the state of California by MaxPreps, just beat No. 3 Crean Lutheran for the second time in three weeks.

This time, Centennial earned a 72-57 victory at the State Preview Classic at Colony High on Saturday evening.

The Huskies took a 28-14, second quarter lead and improved t0 20-1 on the season.

Centennial junior Jared McCain led all scorers.

The Huskies guard finished with 23 points, and Aaron McBride contributed 19 points in the win.

Crean Lutheran’s Vyctorius Miller scored a team-high 20 points.

The Saints got 19 points from Darrell Morris, and Koa Keat chipped in with 10.

Thus far, Centennial, whose only loss of the year came at the hands of 22-1 Duncanville High in Texas back on November 26th, has victories over Etiwanda, St. John Bosco, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, two wins over Riverside King and two more against Crean Lutheran.

Up next: Centennial and Crean Lutheran will both be in action on Monday night.

The Huskies will travel to Riverside Poly in a nonleague contest.

And the Saints host Pacifica in an Empire League battle.

Both games are set to tip at 6.
