Boys Basketball:
The boys from Meridian, Idaho, gave Damien a serious challenge on Tuesday night.
The Spartans, though, edged Owyhee, 56-53, in the quarterfinal round of the Classic at Damien’s Platinum Division.
Kaleb Smith scored six of his team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter.
Liam Campbell led all scorers with 19 points, including nine in a third quarter that saw the Storm outscore the Spartans, 16-7.
Preston Sherburne and Jackson Rogers chipped in nine points apiece for Owyhee.
Jimmy Oladokun contributed 13 points, while Spivey Word had 10 and RJ Smith added nine points in the win.
Owyhee’s three-point margin of defeat tied Riverside Poly as the closest games Damien has faced all season.
