Boys Basketball:
After starting the season 1-0, Glendora lost three of their next four games.
And some may have thought or hoped the reigning CIF-SS Division 3A champs were a one-hit wonder.
But any program that has the tag-team of APU Hall of Famer, Cliff Hamlow, assisting his son, Gordon Hamlow, on the Tartans’ bench, is never going to be out-coached.
And it doesn’t hurt to have returning stars like Noah Smith and Luke Jacobson.
GHS has now won its last three games, including Friday’s 59-57 victory over Paramount in the semifinal round of the San Dimas Tournament (Gary Prestasater Classic).
As he often does, Noah Smith led the way.
The GHS senior guard had 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Luke Jacobson contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Paramount’s Marques Calcote led all scorers with 26 points, and the Pirates’ Marquden Rounds added 12 in the loss.
Ayden Green chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and a pair of steals for the Tartans.
Chris Lee had five points and three boards and Braydon Wooldridge finished with four points, four rebounds and two assists in the win.
Up next: GHS will face Diamond Bar tonight (Saturday) in the championship game at San Dimas High.
The Brahmas (3-1) defeated Rancho Verde, 62-53, on Friday evening.
The tip is set for 7:30.
