Boys Basketball:
Damien blew out its second consecutive opponent to start the 2021-22 basketball season.
One night after a 20-point victory over Kennedy of La Palma, the Spartans breezed by El Dorado, 58-17, in the second round of the Sunny Hills Tournament.
Just like Monday, Spivey Word led the way offensively.
Word finished with 21 points for the second time in two nights.
RJ Smith scored 10 points for the Spartans.
Damien’s Bradley Xie, Jimmy Oladokun and Kaleb Smith contributed seven points apiece.
Hunter Novak and Cooper Bladow led El Dorado with four points each.
Up next: Damien will battle Hillcrest on Wednesday night at 7:30 at Troy High School.
