Football:
Rio Hondo Prep’s Jonathan Guerrero continues to cause massive headaches for the Kares opposition on Friday nights.
And Brentwood wasn’t exempt.
Guerrero rushed for 206 yards on 21 carries.
Guerrero scored on TD runs of 3, 29, 13 and 6 yards.
RHP won its seventh game of the season, 42-18, in a Gold Coast League match up.
And Guerrero’s partner in crime, Gio Ortega was up to his old tricks as well.
Ortega scored twice, including a 12-yard run and a 95-yard kickoff return.
Ortega rushed for 61 yards on three carries and caught three passs for 10 yards.
RHP out-rushed Brentwood by a margin of 355-33.
Paul Alena and Calvin Johnson led the Kares defense with six tackles apiece and Ryan McCulloch had 5.5 tackles in Friday’s win.
As happy as Mark Carson must have been to leave Brentwood with a victory, the RHP coach is certainly going to address the 17 penalties that cost them to go backwards by 150 yards.
Damyan Diaz completed 5-of-7 for 49 yards.
Up next: RHP will host Rancho Christian next Friday in a nonleague contest.
