Football:
Ayala’s Marquis Monroe sure set the tone on Thursday night with his 90-yard kickoff return to open the scoring.
Ayala would go on to defeat visiting Diamond Ranch, 42-7, and improved to 3-0.
The Bulldogs offense gets a lot of praise, and rightfully so.
But Ayala’s defense kept the Diamond Ranch offense in check all night.
The Panthers were able to muster just five yards rushing on 14 carries.
Diamond Ranch was held to 94 yards of total offense.
Tommy Tucay, Jonathan Fuentes and Luke Williams each picked off a pass for the Bulldogs.
And the Ayala ground game would do the rest.
As a team, the Bulldogs rushed for 281 yards on 38 carries, and scored five TD’s.
Eddie Huerta and CJ Sento led the way.
Huerta had 128 yards rushing on 12 carries, including three TD’s.
Sento gained 107 yards on 12 carries.
Bryan Wilson didn’t have a big game with his arm (6 of 20 for 40 yards), but the sophomore had a rushing TD in the win.
And he’s 8-0 as the Ayala signal caller.
Connor Ruiz rushed for 26 yards and a TD.
Up next: Ayala will host Los Osos next Friday at 7.
Box Score:
