Quotable:
Bonita coach, Ryan Marcos: “We don’t have any quit in us. It was go time in the seventh inning and Gavin Vazquez led off with a bloop single and that started everything. Ryan Kozma is just a stud. He stepped up like he always does. I though Luke gave us a great chance to win and grinded it out on the mound. A lot of pitches that were called balls were very close, and he handled it really well. I had all the confidence that we would rally in the seventh inning. It’s not time to face a very tough Thousand Oaks team, but we will go battle like we always do.”
Bonita junior, Luke Mistone: “First all of, that was just a great team win. These guys don’t quit and fight until the very end. I didn’t have my best stuff today, but battled and really just tried to keep us in it. I was fortunate to get out of some tough situations against a very talented lineup. Everyone that came up in the seventh gave us their best at-bat and it speaks for itself. It starts with Gavin getting a leadoff single after a tough at-bat. Also a great job to the coaching staff for giving us a great scouting report and Kozma called a great game.”
Bonita senior, Edrian Rangel: “When the seventh inning started, we knew we had to had to be loud because we were only down by one run and then Gavin Vazquez led off with a single. JT Fenton got another single and then we broke it open. We got contributions from everyone and it was a great team win. Mistone did amazing.”
Bonita senior, Ryan Kozma: “It’s feels great to have that comeback win and keep the season alive, but at the same time, we aren’t done yet. It was a great team win and I couldn’t have had those RBI’s without the guys in front of me and their quality at-bats. Mistone pitched a great game and kept a really good team from scoring a lot of runs as well.”
Bonita senior, Devon Diaz: “All I really have to say is that as a whole we all pulled together and we all knew that two runs was not enough to beat us. We just had to have better at-bats and continue to get the next batter up, but on my part, I love being put in those situations because they are truly game changers, knowing that I had tied up the game to keep us alive. But now we’re onto the next.”
