You had to be there in person to see just how relaxed and poised RCHS senior Jacob Billings was on Friday.
The Cougars ace took his time getting to the mound each inning and once he stood atop the rubber, Billings controlled Friday’s CIF-SS Division 4 quarterfinal from the first pitch to his last.
Billings threw a three-hit shutout at Downey to earn a spot in Tuesday’s semifinal round.
He allowed just three hits, didn’t walk anyone and fanned six Vikings’ batters.
Perhaps the most impressive part of Friday’s performance was Jacob’s ability to get the job done in an efficient 80 pitches.
Up next: RCHS will host top-seeded Murrieta Mesa on Tuesday.
