Emma Lazaro Hits Pair of Late 3-Pointers; Ayala Defeats San Dimas, 57-54, to Win CIF-SS D-3A Championship

Emma Lazaro will never forget June 10, 2021.

The Ayala senior hit a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left in the CIF-SS Division 3A finals to pull even with visiting San Dimas.

And she wasn’t done yet.

Lazaro’s 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left on Thursday night won Ayala a CIF championship by the score of 57-54.

She finished with a team-high 16 points, and 12 of those came in the second half.

All 12 of her second-half points came behind the 3-point line.

Ayala hit 10 3-pointers as a team and seven of those were in the final two quarters.

Janessa Rodriguez led San Dimas with 16 points and Olivia Romero chipped in with 12 points.

Ayala got 12 points from Sasha Cerasuolo and nine each from Summer McNeal and Emily Cruz.

Evelyn Kao finished with 10 points and Allison McGill scored eight for San Dimas.
