Malik Thomas Pours in 27 Points & Leads a Furious Final Surge; Damien Defeats Harvard Westlake, 77-72, in Open Division Play

Damien has shown a remarkable resilience all season, and Friday was no different.

Trailing by nine points at the half against visiting Harvard Westlake in the final of three CIF Open Division pool games, the Spartans stormed back and defeated the Wolverines, 77-72.

Damien used a 22-10 surge in the fourth quarter and finished 2-1 in ‘Pool B.’

Their only setback was Monday’s 17-point loss at Corona Centennial.

Malik Thomas led all scorers with 27 points and that includes 13 in the decisive fourth quarter.

RJ Smith had 19 points and he hit a team-high three 3-pointers.

Jimmy Oladokun added 12 points for the Spartans.

Cameron Thrower paced the Harvard Westlake offense with 18 points and Adam Hinton chipped in with 13.
