Girls Soccer:

San Dimas cruised to a 5-0 victory over Paraclete in the semifinal round of the CIF State Division 4 playoffs on Thursday.

And the first goal of the game, which came around the seven-minute mark, really set the tone for the rest of the contest.

San Dimas coach Josh Arenas described the goal this way:  Alexis Rios started the offense attack from the right wing back position with a phenomenal ball to Jessica Mejia out wide.

From there, Mejia was able to connect a great pass to Ella Ray, who played the next pass into our forward, Reagan Parkhill.

Parkhill was able to connect a lay-off pass to Ally Limos, who scored a phenomenal shot from 25 yards away from the goal, bottom left corner.

Limos finished with two goals and two assists.

Kyla Schuster scored twice for the Saints, and Reagan Parkhill had one goal in Thursday’s win.

Julia Maldonado, Schuster and Parkhill all had one assist each.

Maddy Moriss  had seven saves in goal for SDHS, and Abree Fry blocked eight shots for Paraclete.

Up next: San Dimas will travel to El Segundo on Saturday at 5, and with the CIF State Division 4 championship at stake.

The Eagles (13-5) handed the Saints their one-and-only loss of 2021 in the CIF D-4 title game on May 29.

Quotable:

San Dimas coach, Josh Arenas: “After losing in the CIF finals, it’s common for teams to struggle to get back into practice and having that intensity you had during that playoff run. But for our girls, it was the exact opposite. They came back on day one after the loss to El Segundo and were ready to work, and that makes me so proud as their coach. We got out to an early lead today, which is a big focus of ours, because we like to put pressure on our opponents and it also tends to expose themselves defensively. Having great leaders like Alexis Rios and Ally Limos really makes the coaches job a lot easier. We have a chance to redeem ourselves and get another shot at El Segundo, and we can’t wait for that opportunity to try and bring San Dimas its first state championship.”
