Boys Basketball:
Aaron McBride scored 11 of his team-high 19 points in the decisive fourth quarter, and Centennial defeated Damien, 81-69, in the second round of the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs.
The Huskies took a 55-53 lead into the final eight minutes and outscored the Spartans, 26-16, on Monday night.
Damien’s Malik Thomas led all scorers with 32 points, including four 3-pointers.
Thomas had 12 of the Spartans’ 16 fourth-quarter points.
RJ Smith chipped in with 20 points, 12 of which came from behind the 3-point arc.
The Huskies had a balanced offense, getting 16 points from Donovan Dent, and 13 points apiece from Jared McCain, Devin Williams and Kylan Boswell.
Up next: Damien will host Harvard Westlake on Friday night.
