Boys Athletes of the Week:
The Claremont boys tennis program just capped off a perfect 2021 spring season on Friday afternoon.
And that included Palomares League and CIF-SS Division 1 team titles.
On Friday, at Palos Verdes High School, the Wolfpack defeated the Sea Kings, 12-6, in the D-1 title match.
And while the victory had many contributors, the CHS singles players went a combined 7-2, and that included six wins from their top two players.
Brody Bohren, who plays No. 1 singles, won by scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 7-6 (9-7).
The No. 2 singles player, Ronald Chen, defeated a trio of Palos Verdes players, with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-4.
As mentioned, Bohren and Chen didn’t do this alone, and that especially means the No. 1 doubles tandem of Joey Anagnos and his partner, Caleb Settles.
Anagnos-Settles went 3-0 and did so in pretty dominant form, winning matches by scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-4.
Bohren, Chen & the duo of Anagnos-Settles got Claremont nine team points and only 10 are needed to win.
The 2022 season should be promising, as Bohren and Chen are juniors and one half (Settles) of the No. 1 doubles team is a freshman.
