Boys Basketball:

The last time West Covina won a boys playoff game, current Bulldogs’ seniors Diego Guevara and Michael Reyes were five years of age.

That was all the way back in 2008.

So, Guevara and Reyes wanted to do something about it.

And they did.

Guevara had 23 points and four rebounds, and Reyes contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 49-36 victory at Workman in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 4A playoffs.

The Lobos entered the game with a 9-1 record.

The Bulldogs also snapped Workman’s nine-game win streak.

Up next: WCHS will take the 80-mile trip to take on Oxnard on Saturday evening.

The Spartans (9-8) defeated Bishop Diego, 60-57, in their first-round game.

Box Score:
WCHS: 12-6-17-14-(49)
Workman: 14-10-4-8-(36)

Records: West Covina (9-6); Workman (9-2)
