Well, it’s official.
Damien wrapped up the Baseline League championship on Wednesday after a 10-3 victory at Rancho Cucamonga.
The Spartans scored three runs apiece in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pull away from the Cougars.
Dylan Alanis went 4 1/3 innings, and allowed two runs on four hits.
He walked three and struck out four.
Ryan Mullan allowed one run over the final 2 2/3 innings to secure the league title.
He walked one and fanned six RCHS batters.
Jake Brown walked, singled twice, scored and had an RBI.
Bradyn France singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Ryan Farr also had an RBI base hit.
Justin Hines walked and scored, and Jacob Billings had an RBI.
Brown was stuck with the loss, after allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over his 4 2/3 innings.
He walked five and struck out four Spartans’ batters.
Damien sophomore Tyler Daley singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in four.
Matt Clark went 3-for-5, with four RBIs.
Kaden Moeller doubled and scored.
Sebastian Arguelles had two doubles, an RBI and scored a pair of runs.
Ivan Aguirre walked twice, singled and scored three times.
JD Dunn singled and scored and Joel Porter went 2-for-2, with two walks, two singles, an RBI and run scored.
Up next: The Cougars will travel to La Verne on Friday and hope to avoid the three-game sweep at Damien.
