Charter Oak took a 1-0 lead into the top of the fifth inning against visiting Northview.
A COHS victory would wrap up the Valle Vista League’s No. 2 spot.
Instead, Northview got two runs in thee fifth and one in the sixth inning to defeat Charter Oak, 3-1, on Friday.
Chris Ceballos went the distance for COHS, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.
Ceballos walked one and struck out five.
Andrew Baltazar singled and drove in two runs.
Ivan Barragan walked, singled and scored.
Eligh Hidalgo walked, singled, scored and had an RBI, and Micah Hidalgo singled and scored.
Sal Batres got the win for the Vikings, going five innings and allowing one run on three hits.
He didn’t walk anyone and struck out four.
Andrew Granados got the final six outs, four of which came via strikeout to secure the save.
Evan Avitia drove in the Chargers lone run of the game on a sac fly.
Chris Ceballos singled twice and scored.
Gabriel Rico doubled for COHS.
The Chargers and Vikings are tied for second in the VVL and each has a two-game set next week to close out their regular season schedule.
Up next: Charter Oak will face off with winless Diamond Ranch (0-11, 0-8) on Monday and Wednesday.
And Northview has a pair of VVL games with Covina (7-5, 4-4) on Wednesday and Friday.
