Los Altos and South Hills opened the week tied for first place (5-1) in the Hacienda League, and the Conquerors traveled to West Covina on Tuesday for the first of two games this week with the Huskies
And how would a matchup like this be anything other than a pitcher’s duel?
Andy Jimenez threw a two-hit shutout, as Los Altos edged South Hills, 1-0.
Jimenez needed 96 pitches, walked one and struck out two SHHS batters to earn the win.
Marcos Rosales doubled and Jeremiah Sibrian singled to account for the Huskies offense.
Matthew Lorenzano went five-plus innings for South Hills.
He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out three Conquerors’ batters.
Adrian Soto’s infield single off of Dylan Esquival scored Diego Moreno for the game’s lone run.
David Castillo, Elijah Lopez and Aaron Ortega had one single apiece for the Conquerors.
Up next: South Hills will travel to Los Altos on Saturday.
