Boys Basketball:
With three games left on their Palomares League schedule, Glendora hoped to secure the league’s No. 2 seed for the playoffs.
Ayala had other things in mind and took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter on Monday night at GHS.
The Tartans, though, outscored the Bulldogs, 19-4, in the final eight minutes, and claimed a 56-48 victory.
In the fourth-quarter run, Braydon Wooldridge hit three 3-pointers, and Austin Clark, Noah Smith and Luke Jacobson combined to go 10-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Austin Clark led the way with 20 points, nine rebounds and a 9-for-11 effort from the charity stripe.
Noah Smith had 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and hit seven of his eight free-throws.
And Luke Jacobson finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Ayala’s Nathan Cipriano finished with 20 points.
Jermaine Rogers contributed 12 points and Dylan Victorio had six points apiece for the Bulldogs.
Wooldridge finished with 11 points, and earlier in the day, the GHS junior doubled, scored and drove in two runs in the Tartans’ 6-1 victory at Los Altos.
