Davis Cornwell Goes 5 Scoreless Innings & Strikes Out 3 in Maranatha’s 8-1 Victory Over Simi Valley

Baseball:

Maranatha had one final nonleague contest before closing out the regular season with a pair of two-game series in Olympic League play.

And the Minutemen defeated Simi Valley, 8-1, at Brookside Park.

Davis Cornwell went five scoreless innings to get the win.

Cornwell allowed just two hits, walked three and struck out three Pioneers’ batters.

Patrick DeMarco went one scoreless inning and struck out one, and Simi Valley got one run in the seventh inning off of Royal Cummings.

Daniel Ruiz went 2-for-4, with an RBI and run scored.

Ryan Mittelman walked, singled and drove in two runs.

Dylan Zdunek singled twice, scored two runs and had an RBI.

Will Allen walked, singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Cam Andrews walked, singled and scored.

Bryan Richman walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.

Mikey Ebner walked and scored, and Daniel Latshaw scored once for the Minutemen.

Up next: Maranatha will travel to Village Christian on Tuesday for the first of two Olympic League games with the Crusaders (5-11, 3-5) this week.
