Softball:
If you left Thursday’s Valle Vista League softball game between Charter Oak and Covina early, you might be surprised to see the final score.
The Colts took a 4-1 lead into the top of the fifth inning over their visitors from Charter Oak.
The Chargers bats, though, erupted for 11 runs over the final three innings, and defeated the Colts, 12-4.
Gabriella Martinez was stuck with the loss after allowing seven runs on 12 hits over her 5 1/3 innings.
Jasmine Moreno walked, singled, doubled and hit a grand slam for COHS.
Moreno finished with four RBIs.
Jocelyn Robles went 3-for-4, with a walk and scored three runs.
Alyssa Rubalcava, who got the win in the circle, walked, singled three times, scored three runs and finished with three RBIs.
Mia Montes singled, doubled and drove in two runs.
Rubalcava went six innings, and allowed four runs on seven hits.
She walked two and struck out five.
Marissa Ramirez singled and hit a fourth-inning grand slam to give Covina a 4-1 lead.
Maya Venegas doubled and scored and Brianna Payne singled and scored.
Kennedy Griego singled and came around to score.
Up next: Covina travels to San Dimas and Charter Oak will visit West Covina.
Both games are set for Wednesday at 3:15.
