Baseball:
There is no question that Ayala is the best program in the Palomares League.
And at the same time, perhaps no one deserves a better fate in league play than Glendora’s Johnnie Valdez.
Ayala got three unearned runs on two hits in a 3-0 victory at GHS.
Valdez didn’t walk anyone and struck out seven.
Last week, Valdez was on the wrong end of a 1-0 setback to Bonita, and in his debut with the Tartans just over a month ago, he struck out 10 batters and wasn’t in on the decision at Alta Loma.
Ayala is now 10-0 in Palomares League play and the Bulldogs extended their current win streak to 12 games.
Thomas Cerecedes continued his excellence on Wednesday.
Cerecedes went the distance in a four-hit shutout.
He walked one and struck out two GHS batters.
Cerecedes improved to 7-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.51.
Matt Gonzales, Braydon Wooldridge, Matthew Moreno and Charles Peralta had one single apiece for the Tartans.
Two Glendora errors cost them all three runs.
Jacob Badawi singled and drove in a pair of runs and Cole Koniarsky had an RBI.
Ryan Moreno singled and scored.
Marcus Galvan and Damien Delgadillo scored one run apiece for the Bulldogs.
Up next: GHS will travel to Ayala on Friday for the final of three games.
