Softball:
Azusa’s Juliana Canizales and Iliana Cardenas combined on a five-hit shutout on Tuesday.
The Aztecs improved to 5-0 in Montview League games after a 4-0 victory over Workman.
Canizales went four innings and scattered four hits.
She didn’t walk anyone and struck out two Workman batters.
Cardenas provided three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out five.
Amerie Hernandez, Daisy Felix, Ashley Camacho, Ashley Alvarez and Ariana Felix had one hit apiece for the Lobos.
Alvarez went all six innings for Workman, allowing four runs on nine hits.
She walked one and struck out six Azusa batters.
Breanna Rodriguez went 3-for-3, including a double, RBI and run scored.
Canizales helped her own cause with two singles, a double and one RBI.
Raelene Rodriguez contributed an RBI double.
Gwendalyn Rivas singled and scored two runs.
Mia Pedroza walked and scored, and Cardenas had an RBI single.
Up next: Azusa will travel to Nogales on Tuesday at 3:30.
