Baseball:
La Salle won its third consecutive Del Rey League game on Wednesday to remain in sole possession of second place.
And for the third time in three wins, the Lancers claimed a one-run victory.
This time, La Salle got a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn a 5-4 victory at Serra.
Doug Pyle sure did his part in the win.
Pyle went 4 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out five.
Pyle also went 2-for-3, scored the go-ahead run in the seventh, and he finished with one RBI.
Val Gomez was credited with the win, going 2 1/3 innings, and allowing one hit while striking out three Cavaliers’ batters.
Gomez singled and scored.
Evan Nahra went 1-for-3, and had the game-tying RBI in the seventh.
Adrian Beltre Jr went 2-for-3, with a double.
Bradley Zantenson doubled and scored.
David Mysza singled and scored a pair of runs.
Jaden Guzman had an RBI single.
Up next: The Lancers will travel to Gardena on Thursday for the second of three with the Cavs.
