Baseball:
Los Osos was up two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning at Damien on Monday evening.
The Grizzlies were just three outs from joining Damien and Chino Hills in a three-way tie atop the Baseline League standings.
But the Spartans got two runs in the bottom of the seventh and one more in the eighth to defeat Los Osos, 8-7, in eight innings.
And with Etiwanda handing Chino Hills a two-run setback, Damien stands alone in the Baseline League penthouse for now.
Alec Beck got the win.
Beck went 4 2/3 innings, and allowed a pair of unearned runs on five hits.
He walked one and struck out four.
Evan Tiemann singled, doubled and drove in two runs.
Devean Alvarez singled and scored twice, and Drake Job went 2-for-5, with two RBIs and two runs.
Tyler Mohler walked, singled twice and had an RBI and Kyle Fontenberry singled twice and scored.
Dylan Mohler had two hits and Noe Romero went 2-for-4, with a run and RBI.
Ryan Harrison got the loss after allowing the eighth-inning run on two hits.
Beck also did his part at the plate, going 3-for-4, and scoring twice.
Sebastian Arguelles singled, doubled, scored and drove in two runs.
Robby Mansour walked twice, had two singles, a run scored and two RBIs.
JD Dunn singled twice, tripled, scored and drove in a run.
Tyler Daley and Joe Porter had RBI singles in the win.
