Boys Athletes of the Week:

Bonita entered this past week in a three-way tie with Glendora and Claremont for second place in the Palomares League.

The importance of a tw0 seed is usually the difference between getting a possible first-round home game or traveling to battle a league champion.

Edrian Rangel and Luke Mistone silenced the GHS bats throughout the Bearcats two-game  sweep.

On Wednesday, Edrian Rangel went 6 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed five hits.

Rangel walked one and struck out 10 in the 1-0 victory.

Rangel ran out of pitches, so Luke Mistone had to get the final out with two on and two out in the top of the seventh inning.

On Friday, Mistone went six scoreless innings and allowed four hits in a 6-0 victory at GHS.

Mistone walked one and struck out 12 to earn the victory.

At the plate, Mistone singled twice, doubled and scored.

With a two-game sweep over Glendora this past week and Ayala’s two-game sweep over Alta Loma, the Bearcats now hold a tw9-game lead for second place.

The Bearcats have seven games remaining on their schedule, including six against Palomares League foes.
