Iliana Cardenas played a significant role in a pair of Montview League victories this past week.
The Aztecs pitcher and her teammates improved to 4-0 in league after wins over Sierra Vista and Duarte.
AHS now holds a 0ne-game lead over both Sierra Vista and Nogales.
The Aztecs have six games left on their regular season schedule.
Tuesday:
Azusa 6, Sierra Vista 2
Cardenas went the distance, and allowed just two unearned runs on 10 hits.
She walked one and struck out four.
Cardenas walked and had an RBI double.
Thursday:
Azusa 21, Duarte 0
Cardenas got the win in the circle, going 2 1/3 scoreless innings and striking out three Falcons’ batters.
At the plate, she doubled, homered, scored twice and drove in three runs.
Up next: The Aztecs will welcome Nogales to their field on Tuesday.
First pitch is set for 3:30.
