For the sixth consecutive game, the Charter Oak pitching staff held an opponent to one run or less.
Five Chargers’ pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout, as Charter Oak defeated Mayfair, 1-0, on Saturday morning.
Isaiah Alvarez was credited with the win.
Alvarez went the first two scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
Jacob Gonzalez gave up one hit and struck out one batter in his two innings of work.
Chris Sanchez, Evan Avitia and Diego Ortiz gave COHS skipper Elias Chavez one scoreless inning of relief apiece.
It’s their fourth shutout in the last six games.
Sanchez allowed one hit and struck out three Monsoons’ batters.
Avitia and Ortiz didn’t allow a hit and they both fanned one Mayfair batter each.
David Martinez allowed just an unearned run on one hit and four walks over his four innings on Saturday.
Jacob Chavez singled and scored in the top of the third inning for what turned out to be the game’s only run.
Evan Avitia went 2-for-4, and Gabriel Rico, Sammy Morales and Matt Salgado had one single apiece for the Chargers.
Up next: Charter Oak will travel to San Dimas on Wednesday for the first of two with the Saints.
