Hibbard, Duarte & Nemeth Shut Down Claremont Bats in 5-1 Victory; Glendora’s Morgan Coleman Drives in 2 Runs

Softball:

Glendora’s 5-1 victory over Claremont on Wednesday kept the Tartans within one-game of first-place Ayala in the Palomares League standings.

Ashley Hibbard went three scoreless innings, allowing three hits, walking one and fanning three Wolfpack batters.

Marissa Duarte and Bridget Nemeth provided two innings apiece in the circle.

Duarte did not allow a run, gave up one hit and struck out two, and Nemeth was charged with one run on three hits.

Nemeth didn’t walk anyone and struck out three.

Megan Mason went the distance for Claremont and allowed five runs (two earned) on eight hits.

She walked two and struck out three GHS batters.

Hibbard singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Morgan Coleman singled, scored and drove in two runs.

Allie Winovitch walked and scored and Alicia Garcia singled and scored.

Nemeth singled and scored two runs in the win.

Up next: Claremont will host Colony and Glendora welcomes Alta Loma.

Both games are set for Friday at 3:30.
