Baseball:

Rio Hondo Prep had to feel a tad fortunate to win a game in which they tallied just three hits and committed five errors.

But that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday.

It helps when you have an ace like Jack Van Cleve.

Van Cleve went 6 2/3 innings and none of the three runs he surrendered were earned.

He scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out seven.

Nathan Olivas came on with the bases loaded and two outs.

Olivas was able to coax a fly out to left and secured the save.

Stefan Lightenstein was stuck with the loss after allowing four runs over 3 1/3 innings.

Lightenstein didn’t allow a hit but he walked seven RHP batters.

Trevor Scott walked twice, doubled, scored twice and had an RBI.

Anderson Lang had an RBI base hit.

Jonathan Guerrero walked and had an RBI and Ryan Olivas walked twice, scored and had one RBI.

Raymond Montez walked twice and scored.

Up next: RHP will host Trinity Classical Academy on Thursday at 3:15.
