Girls Soccer:
Welcome to Palomares League soccer, Isabella Contreras.
In just her second league game and first at home, the Ayala freshman scored a hat trick in Monday’s showdown with visiting Glendora.
Contreras scored twice in the first half and once more in the second and the Bulldogs would shut out the Tartans, 4-0.
Preslee Malavenda’s first-half score helped Ayala take a 3-0 lead at the break.
Grayton Normand had three saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
Game notes from Ayala coach, Ryan Casey: ” In our first home league game of the season, the team came out playing really well. Isabella Contreras, a freshman, scored a hat trick, with two goals in the first half, and one goal in the second half, Preslee Malavenda, also a freshman, scored a goal in the first half as well. I want to give credit to our back line, but also the whole team on the defensive side of the ball staying solid and organized, which got our team the shutout. The freshmen were on the score sheet today, but it was such a great team performance. I really want to give all our players so much credit. They came out with energy from the opening whistle till the end, had great attitudes and were really supporting each other tonight. When you see those characteristics from your players you know it is a special team.”
