Steven Escarcega Strikes Out 11 in Five Innings; Monrovia Improves to 3-0 After 7-4 Victory Over Burroughs

Burroughs got three runs in the top of the first inning on Saturday.

But Monrovia bounced back with four in the bottom half of the inning and defeated the Indians, 7-3, to improve to 3-0.

Gunnar Nichols got the loss after surrendering four runs in just two innings of work.

Coleman Mitchell walked, was hit-by-pitch, stole two bases and scored a pair of runs for Monrovia.

Dominic Teneriello walked, got hit, singled, had a sac fly and two RBIs in the win.

Steven Escarcega earned the win after five innings of work for Monrovia.

Escarcega surrendered four runs (one earned) on two hits.

He walked four and struck out 11 Indians’ batters.

Andrew Chapman doubled and scored for Burroughs and Nick Forrest singled and drove in a pair of runs in the loss.

Up next: Monrovia will host Cathedral on Tuesday at 3:30.
