Glendora Sweeps California, 5-0 & 8-2, on Saturday; JJ Nolan & Donovann Jackson Earn Victories on Mound

Ever since a season-opening loss one week ago today, Glendora has won four consecutive games, including two on Saturday.

The Tartans claimed victories of 5-0 and 8-2 over visiting California.

Game One:

GHS took an early five-run lead Saturday morning in game one and never looked back.

Christian Melendez got the loss for California.

Melendez surrendered five runs on six hits over his four innings.

He walked one and fanned five.

Matt Gonzales singled twice, scored and had one RBI from the leadoff spot.

Braydon Wooldridge singled, tripled and drove in one run.

Michael Moses walked, singled and scored.

Carson Mounce went 2-for-3 and scored once.

Troy Estrada doubled, scored and drove in two runs.

Charles Peralta walked and scored.

Josh Verkuilen started for GHS, going 1 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out two.

JJ Nolan got the win, going the final 5 2/3 innings and allowing just one hit.

Nolan walked two and struck out four.

Jimmie Duarte had the lone Condors base hit.

Game Two:

The Tartans clinched the sweep with an 8-2 victory.

Donovann Jackson got his second win this week.

After defeating Rancho Cucamonga on Monday, the Tartans lefty went four innings and allowed just one run on four hits.

Jackson didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.

Noah Castillo hit a first-inning solo home run for the Condors.

Ben Montanez singled and scored, Robert Verdugo singled twice and Gehrig Gardner had an RBI single for California.

Adrian Hernandez suffered the loss after giving up seven runs on five hits in just 1 1/3 innings.

Hernandez walked two and struck out a pair of GHS batters.

AJ Salazar had an RBI triple and scored twice from the leadoff spot.

Braydon Wooldridge continues to tear the cover off the ball.

Wooldridge went 2-for-2, with a walk, single, double and two runs scored.

Carson Collett went 2-for-4, with a double, two runs scored and a game-best three RBIs.

Carson Mounce walked and had an RBI double.

Matthew Moreno contributed a pair of hits and RBIs.

Tanner West finished 2-for-4, with a run and RBI.
