Ayala set the tone early and never looked back in Thursday’s season opener.
The Bulldogs put together a first-possession scoring drive that consisted of 17 plays and ate up nearly 11 minutes of clock to open the floodgates.
Ayala would cruise to a 38-14 victory over Temescal Canyon, and the Bulldogs defense didn’t allow the Titans to score until the fourth quarter.
Bryan Wilson completed 12 of his 15 attempts for 170 yards, including three TD passes.
Marcus Monroe caught three passes for 71 yards, which included a pair of TD receptions.
Andrew Aguilar had a game-high six catches for 73 yards.
Jacob Badawi led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 61 yards on nine carries and a TD.
Xavier Crockett gained 44 yards on eight carries and Wilson ran the ball four times for 34 yards.
Ayala scored the game’s first 38 points and its defense did the rest.
The Bulldogs special teams played aggressively and caused three turnovers.
Andrew Aguilar and Marcus Monroe had one interception apiece.
Dominic Lanathaua forced a fumble and Theodore Woodbury had a scoop-and-score (fumble recovery) in the win.
Up next: Ayala will travel to Bonita next Thursday night.

Baseball: When Bonita scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning on Saturday afternoon, it turns out the benefit was more than just extending their season. The Bearcats claimed a 7-4 victory at Los Alamitos in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs. When Bonita coach Ryan Marcos got back to […]
Baseball: Bonita found itself trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats were 38 miles from home and just three outs away from a season-ending, CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinal defeat at Los Alamitos High School. Bonita, though, stepped up big time, scoring six runs in the top of the […]
Boys Athlete of the Week: You had to be there in person to see just how relaxed and poised RCHS senior Jacob Billings was on Friday. The Cougars ace took his time getting to the mound each inning and once he stood atop the rubber, Billings controlled Friday’s CIF-SS Division 4 quarterfinal from the first […]
Girls Athlete of the Week: It’s every athlete’s dream. To be in a position to help their program win a championship. And that was exactly the opportunity that Ayala senior Emma Lazaro had on Thursday night. Trailing late in their CIF-SS Division 3A title game against visiting San Dimas, Lazaro hit a 3-point shot with […]

Baseball: Roc Riggio isn’t going to win any popularity contests at San Dimas High School. The Thousand Oaks slugger walked, homered three times and drove in six runs in the Lancers 12-1 thumping of the Saints in the D-2 quarterfinals. Matt Romero went five innings and was charged with six runs on 10 hits. He […]
Baseball: A pretty remarkable 2021 season finally ended for the Monrovia baseball program. And it took the No. 1 seed in Division 4 to do it. Murrieta Mesa defeated the Wildcats, 6-2, in the quarterfinal round. Jhayden Raineri remained unbeaten after going seven strong innings to pick up the win. Raineri allowed two runs on […]
Baseball: At first glance, Jacob Billings isn’t an imposing figure. In fact, he looks like someone you might see walking out of the ocean with a surfboard in his arms. But make no mistake about it, when he’s on the mound, Jacob Billings pitches like a grown man. And Friday was just another example of […]
