To say the No. 1 ranked team in the (CIF-SS) preseason Division 9 poll got out fast in their season opener would be an understatement.
Bonita scored all 42 of their points in the first half.
Sean Jastrab threw for four scores and 220 yards in just the first two quarters.
The Bearcats earned a 42-7 victory over their visitors from Arroyo.
Ethan Durham and Jacob Horne had a pair of TD catches apiece from Jastrab.
Aalias Williams and Brandon Stone both had one interception apiece for the Bearcats’ defense.
Up next: Bonita will travel to Diamond Bar (1-0) next Friday night.
The Brahmas earned a 34-14 victory at Walnut in their week zero contest.
Records: Arroyo (0-1); Bonita (1-0)
Quotable:
Bonita coach Steve Bogan: “I was really pleased with the poise Sean (Jastrab) played with. He’s very sharp. Kind of the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He has a very bright future. Arroyo put together a number of drives in the second half, and a solid one in the first half, but turnovers prevented them from scoring more than they did.”
